It is an absolute fact that Almighty God is the returned Jesus. He doesn’t perform signs and wonders, and this has to do with the principle of God’s working. We need to know that God is an ever-new and never-old God and that he never repeats his work. Each stage of work God does isvery meaningful. If God did the identical work in different ages, then he would repeat his work and it would be meaningless. In the Age of the Grace, God healed the sick, drove out demons, and performed many signs and wonders. These are the works God did in the Age of the Grace. In the final age, God no longer does such works. If he again did the work of healing the sick, driving out demons, and performing signs, he would repeat the work of the Age of the Grace. In that case, the work Jesus did in the Age of the Grace would be meaningless. Almighty God says,“Remember one point! God does not repeat his work. The stage of Jesus’ work has been accomplished, and God will never do that stage of work again. … In people’s notions, God should always perform signs and wonders, should always heal the sick and drive out demons, and should always be like Jesus. This time God will by no means do so. If in the end time God still performed signs and wonders and drove out demons and healed the sick, doing exactly the same as Jesus did, then God’s work would be repeated, and Jesus’ work would be meaningless and worthless. So God does one stage of work in one age.Every time after God does a stage of work, evil spirits will imitate it immediately. After satan follows in the wake of God, God will work in another way. After God finishes a stage of work, evil spirits will imitate it. You should be clear about this.” (from The Word Appears in the Flesh) So, God does one stage of work in each age, and none of the stages is repeated buteach has newer and deeper significance. For example, in the Age of the Law, the work God did was to issue the law, lead people to live, and let people know what sin was. In the Age of the Grace, however, God did such works no more but bestowed abundant grace to people and redeemed them from satan’s hand by having his own holy flesh nailed onto the cross, andmeanwhile he told them to come before God to confess and repent of their sins. The second stage of work is not a repetition of the first one, but is uplifted and deepened on the basis of the first one. In this way, the result of saving people can be achieved, and people can know God’s being ever new and never old and being wonderful and unfathomable. If God always did the same work, how could he be a wonderful and unfathomable God? In that case, God’s almightiness could not be manifested. God does one stage of work in each age; when the work of one age achieves the results, God will open a new age and do a new work. Each stage of God’s work brings people new supply and enables them to have new knowledge of God and more discernment of satan’s schemes. This is the principle of God’s working and is also where God’s wisdom lies.
Besides, God doesn’t perform signs and wonders in his work at the final stage because the age is different and also because it is the need of the work. According to his plan, the need of mankind, and the extent of man’s being corrupted by satan, God does each stage of work in a planned and step-by-step way. When there is a need to perform signs, heal the sick, and drive out demons, he then performs signs, heals the sick, and drives out demons; when there is no such need, he won’t do them. God does not keep the regulations in doing his work. For example, in the Age of the Law, God worked on people who had just been corrupted by satan. People of that time had little corruption and they knew nothing, not knowing how to live on earth or how to worship God. So, the pressing work that God needed to do on such people was not to transform their corrupt disposition but to issue the law according to their need and lead them to live on earth, so that they could know how to eat, how to dress, how to get along with one another, how to worship Jehovah, and so on. In the later phase of the Age of the Law, however, people were increasingly unable to keep the law and committed more and more sins, confronted with the danger of being condemned and put to death by the law. It is not God’s original intention in working that all people should die because of sin; the purpose of his working is to save people. Therefore, God started another stage of work in his plan in accordance with mankind’s need, that is, the redemptive work of the Age of the Grace. He gave people sufficient grace, and he healed the sick, drove out demons, and performed signs and miracles, through which to make them come before God to confess and repent of their sins and thus receive forgiveness. In the end, God offered himself on the cross and redeemed people from sins, accomplishing the work of redeeming all mankind. Now, the end time has arrived. Though people have received countless grace from Jesus and know to come before God to confess and repent of their sins, the problem of their sinning constantly cannot be resolved thoroughly, and they all live in the condition of committing sins and confessing sins and even abuse God’s grace to sin. Thus, even though God healed the sick, drove out demons, and performed signs and wonders again, it couldn’t keep them from sinning. So, God starts a stage of newer work according to the need of the end-time people, that is, the work of chastising, judging, and purifying men with the word. He discloses men’s corruption and judges their disobedience through the word, and at the same time lets them understand the way of growing in life and the pathway of having their disposition transformed, so that they can gradually become holy and sin no more. From this we can see that though the way of God’s working in each stage is different, the ultimate purpose is to save men, to enable them to get rid of theirsatanic disposition completely, and to restore mankind to their original holiness. It is not the purpose of his working to perform signs, heal the sick, and drive out demons, but they are merely the additional works done to better save men. Signs and grace cannot transform and perfect men or deliver them from the bondage of sin completely. During the period when God is incarnated in the end time, if God still repeats the work of the Age of the Grace, healing the sick, driving out demons, and performing signs, wonders, and miracles, men’s sinful nature can never be removed and his entire six-thousand-year management plan can’t be accomplished, and men will all, because of being bound and overwhelmed by sins, be completely captured by satan in the end. In that case, God’s plan and the significance of his creating men would become nothing. Only through God’s work of the word in the final stage can they be purified and saved completely. As Almighty God says, “The Holy Spirit works according to the age, not randomly or according to regulations. When the age turns, he will surely bring a new work in the new age. This is so with every stage of work. So, his work is never repeated. In the Age of the Grace, Jesus did many such works as healing the sick and driving out demons, laying hands and praying, and blessing people. If today such works were done again, it would be meaningless. The Holy Spirit worked that way at that time, because it was the Age of the Grace, in which people had sufficient grace to enjoy, they were not required to pay any price but could receive grace as long as they believed, and everyone was treated very graciously. Now the age has changed, and God’s work has advanced further, which, however, is to rid people of their disobedience and the unclean things within them through chastisement and judgment. That stage was redemption, so he had to work that way, giving people sufficient grace to enjoy. Only thus could they be redeemed from sins, and through grace their sins could be forgiven. … But people’s corrupt disposition still remains within them and they still can commit sins and resist God, and God has not gained mankind. So in this stage, God discloses people’s corrupt disposition by his word and lets them practice according to proper ways. The work done in this stage is more significant and produces greater results than the work done in the former stage, because now the word directly supplies people’s life so that their disposition can be thoroughly renewed, and it is a more thorough work. …” “So, it is not healing the sick and driving out demons that can completely save men from sins, nor is it performing signs and wonders that can fully make men complete. The authority of healing the sick and driving out demons only gives men grace, but their flesh is still of satan, and they still have corrupt satanic disposition within. In other words, that which has not been purified is still of sin and of filthiness. Only after they have been purified through the word can men be gained by God and become holy ones.” (from The Word Appears in the Flesh) So, during the period when God works in the end time, he doesn’t perform signs and wonders, or heal the sick and drive out demons; this is the need of God’s work, and even more is the need of the corrupt mankind.
From these words we know that whether or not God performs signs in a stage of work depends on the need of the work. God doesn’t perform signs during the period of doing the work through being incarnated in the end time; it is not that he cannot perform signs but that the work he is doing doesn’t require it. Of course, it is not absolute that God doesn’t perform signs in the end-time work. When God’s work in the flesh is concluded, that is, when God has thoroughly transformed and purified those who can be saved, God will still perform signs, and he will perform great signs. But that will be the time for God to reveal the outcomes of all kinds of men and to punish the evil and reward the good. All those who don’t accept God’s end-time work will weep and gnash their teeth, because God’s work of salvation will have ended when there is only the truth expressed and no signs ever seen by men. As Revelation 1:7 says, “Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.”
Let’s read two other passages of Almighty God’s word, and we’ll understand it more clearly. Almighty God says, “Now you all should be clear that in the end time God will mainly accomplish the fact that ‘the Word becomes flesh.’ By working on earth practically, he lets people know him, contact him, and see his practical deeds, and lets them see clearly that he can perform signs and wonders but sometimes he cannot, which depends on what age it is. From this you can see that it is not that God cannot perform signs and wonders, but that he varies his working with different works and different ages. Now in this stage of work, God does not perform signs and wonders. In the age of Jesus God performed some signs and wonders, because the work in that age was different. Today God does not do that work. Some people think that God cannot perform signs and wonders, or that he is not God since he does not perform signs and wonders. Isn’t this a fallacy? God can perform signs and wonders, but as the age of the work has been different, he does not do those works. As the ages are different and the stages of the work are different, the deeds God manifests are different. For people to believe in God is not to believe in signs and wonders or to believe in miracles but to believe in God’s practical work of the new age. … In each age God manifests his different deeds, and in one age he manifests part of his deeds. The work in each age represents part of God’s disposition and represents part of God’s deeds. As the ages in which God works are different, the deeds he manifests are different. In any case, his purpose is to cause people to know him more deeply and believe in him more solidly and truly.”
“In the end time God mainly perfects people by his word. He does not suppress people by signs and wonders to make them believe and obey. That cannot manifest God’s great power. If God only performed signs and wonders, God’s practicalness could not be manifested and people could not be perfected. God does not perfect people by signs and wonders but waters and shepherds them with his word, so that they will obey in everything and know God. This is God’s purpose in working and speaking. God does not perfect people by means of performing signs and wonders but by his word and by various ways of working. Refining, dealing, pruning, or supplying by the words, he perfects them by the words spoken from different angles so that they will know his work better and know his wisdom and wonderfulness better. … It is a very easy thing to perform signs and wonders, but it is not God’s principle of working and is not God’s purpose of managing man. If people all saw signs and wonders and God’s spiritual body appeared to them, wouldn’t they all ‘believe’? In the past, it was said that God would gain from the East a group of overcomers, who had come out of the great tribulation. What does this word mean? It means that these people gained by God have gone through judgment, chastisement, dealing, pruning, and all kinds of refining and thus have true obedience. Their ‘belief’ is not vague but practical. They have not seen any signs and wonders or seen any miracles and cannot speak out any profound words and doctrines or any profound seeings, but they have reality, have God’s word, and have a practical and true knowledge of God. Can’t such a group of people better manifest God’s great power? The work God does in the end time is a practical work. In the age of Jesus, he did not come to perfect people but to redeem mankind, so he performed some miracles to cause people to follow him. This is because he came mainly to accomplish the work of crucifixion, and performing signs was not a work within his ministry. Those signs and wonders were a work done for achieving the results of the work, which was additional and did not represent the work of the entire age. In the Old Testament Age of the Law, God also performed some signs and wonders. But today the work God does is a practical work, and he absolutely does not perform signs and wonders. If he did so, his practical work would be disturbed and could no longer be carried on. If he says that he perfects people by his word, and yet he also performs signs and wonders, then can people be revealed as to whether they truly believe? So God does not work that way. People have too many religious things within. God comes in the end time just to rid them of all the religious notions and all the supernatural things within them, and cause them to know God’s practicalness and cast off the image of the vague and unrealistic, or non-existent, god. So if you have the knowledge of the practicalness now, this is treasure! The truth triumphs over everything. How much truth do you have now? Is anyone who performs signs and wonders God? Evil spirits can also perform signs and wonders. Are they God? In believing in God, people should seek the truth and pursue life but not signs and wonders. This should be the purpose all people believe in God for.” (from The Word Appears in the Flesh)
Through eating and drinking Almighty God’s words, we understand that God doesn’t perform signs but only speaks words in the end-time work. By doing so, eventually he can purify and transform men, and can completely deliver them from the corrupt satanic disposition, enabling them to become holy. Besides, through the practical and normal work, God can reveal all those who have a false faith, leaving them aside for God’s final punishment. This enables us to see more of God’s wisdom. God wants the ones who truly believe in God and who pursue the life and the truth and obey God’s will, rather than the ones who don’t love the way of God’s mouth but only love to see signs and who ask for bread and have their fill. Therefore, in the end time, all those who thirst for and seek the truth can be purified and saved by God, whereas all those who only seek signs yet don’t want the truth will be revealed and eliminated by God’s work and receive God’s final punishment. Such work of God manifests God’s righteousness, almightiness, and wisdom. It is really so meaningful!
The
Church of Almighty God came into being because of the work of the
returned Lord Jesus—the end-time Christ, “Almighty
God”—in China, and it isn't established by any person. Christ
is the truth, the way, and the life. After reading God’s
expression, you will see that God has appeared.
