To answer this question of the brothers and sisters, let’s first study some prophecies concerning the Lord’s second coming recorded in the Bible.
“Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. …” (Revelation 1:7)
“And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30)
“And his feet shall stand in that day on the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east….” (Zechariah 14:4)
“For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:27)
“Behold, I come as a thief. …” (Revelation 16:15)
“And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him.” (Matthew 25:6)
“But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matthew 24:36)
Of these verses, one says that the Lord will come with the clouds and every eye shall see him; one says that the Lord will come as a thief; still one says that no one knows about that day or hour of the Lord’s coming, not even the angels in heaven; and so on. Thus it can be seen that the Lord will come the second time in more than one way. If the Lord chooses to come in only one of the ways above, the brothers and sisters who stick to waiting for the Lord to come in other ways won’t see the Lord’s coming. So exactly in which way will the Lord come? If we carefully study these prophecies recorded in the Bible, we’ll find that these prophecies can be divided into two types: prophecies concerning the Lord’s coming in a hidden way, and prophecies concerning his coming in an open way. By this we know that God’s end-time work is done in two phases: in the first phase, God does the work in a hidden way, judging and chastising man and saving man through his utterance and word; after that, he will appear publicly and let people see with their own eyes the fact of God’s rewarding the good and punishing the evil. Now is the phase in which Almighty God comes in a hidden way to work and save man. As the Bible records, “But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matthew 24:36) “Behold, I come as a thief. …” (Revelation 16:15) These prophecies refer to Almighty God’s coming and working in a hidden way. Because it is the phase in which God does the work in a hidden way, we can’t see the scene that “every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him,” and we can only see Almighty God’s word and the work he does. Today, Almighty God has been incarnated and come to earth; he has opened the little scroll, broken the seven seals, unlocked all mysteries, and uttered his voice of judgment to conquer and perfect all who come before his throne and accept the judgment of his word. This is Almighty God’s work in the hidden phase. After the hidden work, it will be the time for God to appear publicly and reward the good and punish the evil. At that time, everyone will see God’s coming, as the prophecies in the Bible say, “Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him….” (Revelation 1:7) “And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30) At that time, good will be rewarded with good and evil with evil, which is what we often say, “God will give to each person according to what he has done.” This is the principle of God’s working to save man, that is, doing it in a hidden way first and then in an open way, and letting man hear first and then see. Working in a hidden way is to better expose and save man. When God comes publicly, it will be the time when the work of salvation ends and God begins to punish the evil and reward the good, and the time when every eye sees him. At that time, everything will be clear and all men’s outcomes will be decided. When the work should be done in a hidden way, God will do it in a hidden way; when it is the time for God to work in an open way, he will surely do it openly. There is God’s own plan and arrangement for it. As Almighty God says, “Today I work and speak among you in a hidden way. … No one knows the words and the chastisement and judgment except you. All the work is done among you and is only open to you. None of the unbelievers knows it, because the time has not come. … When God’s work on earth ends, that is, when the hidden work ends, this stage of work will explode, and all people will know that there are a group of overcomers in China and know that God has been incarnated in China and his work has ended.” (from The Word Appears in the Flesh)
We need to know that now is the phase in which Almighty God does the work in a hidden way, and is also the great opportunity for us to be saved. If, in the period when God works in a hidden way, we don’t keep up with the pace of God’s working or accept his work of judging and purifying man with the word, we will forever lose the opportunity to be saved. This is because by the time we see God appearing publicly, God’s work of salvation will have already ended, and everything will be too late then. Almighty God warns us, “Maybe many people do not pay attention to what I am saying. But I still want to tell every so-called saint who follows Jesus: When you see with your own physical eyes Jesus descending from heaven on a white cloud, it will already be the time the sun of righteousness appears publicly. At that time, you may be beside yourself with excitement. But have you ever known this: When you see Jesus descending from heaven, it will be the very time you go to hell to receive punishment. That will already be the time God’s management plan is declared concludedand the time God rewards the good and punishes the evil. This is because God’s judgment has ended at the time when people have not seen miraculous signs but only the truth is expressed. Those who accept the truth without seeking for miraculous signs and thus are purified will have returned before God’s throne and into the bosom of the Creator. Only those who hold on to one belief that ‘the Jesus who does not come on the white cloud is a false christ’ will suffer eternal punishment, because they only believe in the Jesus who can perform miraculous signs but do not acknowledge the Jesus who expresses severe judgment and releases the true way of life. So there is no choice but to let Jesus deal with them when he returns on the white cloud publicly.” (from The Word Appears in the Flesh)
Brothers and sisters, today, though Almighty God’s coming hasn’t “shaken the heavens and the earth or resounded through the skies” as we have imagined, it is just the time when God does the work in a hidden way to judge and purify us, and is just the time for us to be saved. This is like the time when God’s word came to Noah and the gospel was preached through him before God destroyed the world with the flood, and it is also like the time when God, before destroying Sodom, sent two angels to tell the people what he would do and the message that anyone who went out of the city could be saved. This shows that each time God is about to do the work of destruction, he will give people his word and point out to them the way to be saved, so that they can have an opportunity to repent. This is precisely God’s love and righteousness. Now is the last opportunity for us to be saved. Opportunity knocks but only once! Almighty God’s work in Mainland China has reached an unparalleled grandeur, and most of the brothers and sisters of various denominations who thirst after God’s appearing have come before Almighty God. If we still don’t drop our notions but are set on waiting to welcome God’s coming until we see with our own eyes Jesus descending from heaven on the white cloud, then we will miss the opportunity to be saved by God and thus lose God’s salvation, and will also be punished by God for refusing to accept Almighty God’s end-time work. Brothers and sisters, will we accept Almighty God’s hidden work now to be purified and blessed by God, or will we wait to be punished when God appears publicly? Surely we will make a wise choice at this crucial time of life and death.
